Hi there everyone beautiful person out there, this is my update, as you know I have been trying to follow a fairly slow carb diet (which I am enjoying more than I thought) secondly I have been dosing with vitad3 gels with wool oil, okay when I started this whole thing I started out at 40,000 iu working down over several months this past year or so, (as you can see above if you can read it why these dosages seem okay for me) but several times after I start to see results and feel so much better sleeping better reduced apetite for high sugary foods go down, and more energy and less fuzzy fog etc I lower the dose so I don’t over do it, well every time I did after a few weeks the symptoms start to return and I have to up it again for a couple of weeks to see the symptoms abate (I did this about 3 times) so now I am back at 25,000 iu, per day, 5000 per day was not enough, too low for maintenance, 10,000 also was too low, I took this dosage for a couple of weeks and seen no improvement.

I have been dosing in the 20,000 iu range for about 2 weeks or so and I am starting to feel so much better. my appetite has normalized (don’t need to constantly munch) I sleep through the night again without the hunger or nervousness of low blood sugar symptoms even tho on paper I do not have hypoglycemia.

my periods are starting to normalize (until I started to eat a high soy product I did not know I was eating, I cannot handle even a hint of soy itmesses up my periods makes them last longer, heavier, more crampy and pms is worse as well) so I have reduced that, flaxseed and it’s oil does the same thing.  But my mood is better too. I am starting to have a training effect, improvments in stamina, breathing and etc when I exercise. I do hope you all can read those notes I scanned, tried to get a copy into a word processing document but it only pasted jibberjabber language.

can you believe it is almost april?  SUCKS!!!! why does winter always want to hang on so long and summer want to be so cold like last year was?

metabolic syndrome

howdy gang, how are you all doing? is it cold where you are? is surly  here,yikes! who turned down the thermostat! at least the sun has been shining parts of the day each day.  does anyone else kind a go into a semi conscious state during winters, where they just want to sit around and only get up to do things they absolutly have too. do you notice increase in weight and appetite? do you zone out for long periods of time? do you suffer obesity hypertension and high cholesterol and other health problems? I know I do.

I know I have been dealing with metabolic syndrome for like 40 years. when I was younger I didnt know that is what I had, but anyway was just reading in a pubmed article, short and sweet but informative article about it. they are now starting to call metabolic syndrome as winter metabolism. why? well they are starting to realize that obesity hypertension and other parameters of metabolic syndrome (MS) is a winter response, weight gain along with hypertension and high cholesterol is a survival response (I have been calling it that for a long time) to signals of winter (low vitad3) due to lack of sunshine (I am sure there are other signals to the body too like quality of food and amount of sunshine hitting the pineal gland through the eyes) is a triggor for this.

Another feature of winter is lower food quantity and quality. this is probably a triggor too, (you know all the dieting people do for weight loss; weight loss alone can be a triggor for overeating to regain weight to survive the winter you keep imposing on it by NOT EATING enough. there I said it. so STOP DIETING! okay I yelled enough.

So if your in a survival or long term stressful situation that is depleting nutrients or your undereating or eating poorly, the last thing your body wants is the added stress of forced exercise!! exercise is a stress on an already stressed out system. so you feel lazy and unmotivated. well duh!!! you would think we would get this, you think I would get this (well finally did) that laziness and over eating is a winter response (even in summer)now I will not force exercise anymore, will do so only when I get the signal to do so.

so metabolic syndrome is a survival mechinsm in a enviroment of poor quality food or lack of certain nutrients like minerals and vitad3 and other nutrients (like protein especially plant proteins). for me I found if I drop my vitad3 below 5000 or 6000 iu my symptoms gradually start to show their ugly faces, it  takes about 2 or 3 weeks to start to manifest itself. but once I get the amount back up after a week I start to notice the symptoms resolving themselves. remember I did megadosing for almost a whole year, before decreasing to a maintenance of 2000 iu per day as recommended by doctors. so now my dose will remain at 5-6 thousand per day until furthur notice. obviously I lost the ability to make it myself (you all know how much I love the sun) I am starting to sleep better and feeling better, I did add some vitamines supplements like c, b, and some minerals a little bit of fiber and still take my cinnomon and chromium too.

alas!!! the road is long and hard and the view has not always been very pleasant, in fact it has been downright annoying, depressing and frustrating.  can you relate? yikes where is the end of the rainbow, never mind that, where is that darn rainbow? cannot seem to locate it. oh well will have to carry on as I can still see light at the end of this path.

winter, what I have learned and progress

winter in my backyard, or front which ever you prefer. at least the early short january thaw which came early and melted everything.  Novemeber fought off sinus infections, the whole month needed anitbitics started to feel better and then I was down again feeling like I dont know what, lightheaded, faint, headachy, the runs, weak, sleepy all the time, humm what is going on here, sinus congestion problems but no infection.

I was thinking to my self what the tarnation is going on here?, I am eating better taking my vita supplements vitad3, exercising (have had energy to do so regularly) clearer minded and then this. could this have been a healing crisis? it lasted 2weeks then gone as quickly as it came it faded away. thank goodness.

now for what I learned in relation to diet, exercise, physiology, chemistry etc, one, weight reducing diets kill by degree. two, low carb diets, low cal diets, low fat diets, exercise for weight loss kill by degrees without you even realizing it right away. three, the more diets you do and the more weight loss you have had, weight up weight down, rinse and then repeat, the closer to death you are. while your breathing and working and doing your thing, your dying and don’t even see it.

Four, the medical community sees metabolic syndrome, type 2, type 3 diabetes, plaque buildup, high cholesterol, hypertension, as diseases of obesity. obesity is considered a moral weakness of inability to eat less and exercise more and thus is not a disease thus the doctor is not responsible for the poor results of their treatment.

Five,  the treatments given by doctors and other professionals to cure these diseases is diet and exercise. If one loses even 10 percent of their weight they improve all the parameters of these diseases. sound familiar?

Six, you can lose this 10 percent and still be obese. humm something sounds fishy here.

Seven, that if you eat all your fruits and veggies and eat as recommended by the “experts” (you all know how I feel about “experts” right?) you don’t need supplements. sound familiar? I learned that yes you do need supplementation, sometimes pretty heafty amounts when your fighting heavy duty health condtions like obesity metabolic syndrome etc.

Eight, Doctors do not have all the answers and sometimes refuse to allow new information and experiences to expand their mind when what was believe to be true is found not to be.

Ninth, I also learned that I have to take my health into my own hands, do my research, learn from my experiences and the expeirences of others, use my reasoning skill based on all that I learned about How we are designed by Jehovah, what happened in my life, what researchers have said that are not listend to by the mainstream everyone. I have learned to take everything I hear on the news, in papers, on the internet, etc, with a grain of salt with a i will put it on the back burner because I do not believe what I heard and dont trust it.

I  learned too, our bodies are very well designed by Jehovah, despite our sinful imperfection our bodies work pretty much like they should (except for serious genetic defects some people get which I feel sorry for them that really disable them)when doctors, us, people in general, do not understand something the body does they try to force it to change to a preconceived idea of what it should be. basically they treat symptoms. which has its place don’t get me wrong, sometimes treating hte symptoms allows you time (and some comfort too) to find the culprit and work on it. It also allows a better quality of life if your unable to fix the underlying problem.

eleventh, I learend our bodies have two goals, one is keeping you alive and upright, second your wellbeing. It turns out that what we may describe as auto immune disease, metabolic disease, obesity, food addictions (I love this one) is actually the body working here to keep you alive and upright. The body will literally rob from one part of our body to supply another with nutrients missing in your diet in sufficient amounts. arthritis, could it be the body is stealing the sulfer from your joints to supply the heart and brain?or stealing from the intestines to get at the sulfer? or your stomach? hence all the stomach problems that doctors give immune suppressing drugs? or the brain, is it so deficient in nutrients it has to form plaques on it’s neurons to protect them from the toxic enviroment of oxygen, sugar laden blood?  Yet doctors treat it like it is a disease not a survival mechism and try to suppress it.

what about obesity and it’s other symptoms?I learned that all this is a symptom of malnutrition. if you don’t eat enough food for purposes of losing weight or any reason really, your body cannabalises itself, proteins for one, fat, water, glycogen stores empty out etc cortisol and adrenalin is released, if these things are not replaced adequatly due to undereating the stress continues and if you add exercise you just added gasoline to the fire.

What does all of this mean then? Not exacly sure, but one thing for sure the trail has veered off to another direction for me. now I understand why diets failed me. it does not address the underlying problem. now I understand why when you start a new diet and stick to it for a while you start to feel good have more exercise and seem to do well for a while even losing some weight. a reducing diet which ever you choose wiht exercise especially is a stress. what does the body do in reponse to stess? it releases adreanlin and cortisol  cortisol is a feel good lets get up and dance hormone.

It is also a antiinflammation hormone too. now I understand when your aches and pains stop hurting it is not because your getting healthier but because you added a stress the body has to go deal with. your body can only handle so many stressors at once so it priotises, remember its first job is keeping you alive. so now it has to put other healing and repairing jobs on hold. now I also understand why the desire to eat sugary stuff and overeat on them is delayed making one think their diet is working. these are all false sensations of success.

This is why you get a healing crisis once you fix the underlying problem, your body was so focused for so long (if your health problems and obesity was long standing)on keeping you alive it could not afford to use any nutrients or didnt have it available to deal with toxins and damage to cells and give full repair. it could  not raise your metabolism or temp or motivate you to exercise and live life, it was too strained keeping you alive.  Understand what I mean?

this is what I was experiencing, it lasted so long because there was alot to fix and I  had all the nutrients, caloires protein fats etc it needed for full repair and to fight off virus and bacteria it had to put up with (keeping them at bay but not really getting rid of them hence you get sick, better, repeat, because the underlying infection or problem is not solved just held in check for a whilethus getting sinus infections over and over and over again over many years.) hence now because I did not listen to doctors anymore, listen to “experts” anymore but decided to do my own research and listen to alternative ideas I was able to understand what was going on. I still listen to my doctor on so many things I do appreciate all thehelp they have given me in the past with my problems (chronic sinus infections, chronic broncitis, anxiety attacks, headaches that goe on and on for months, sleeping problems etc) after all I realize they dont’ know everything either and are learning themselves.

All my problems were because of malnorishement. I am under the impression that I do not make vitad3 in the skin. i did all the other things like eat better,  plenty of sun exposure without sunscreen taking glucose tolerance supplements, lowering my carbs as much as I could comfortably do, taking immune stimulating herbs and other things experiementing with different herbs and things, something was missing. once I had been on vitad3 for many, many months then it started to click. I was finally showing some really cool progress. it is like vitad3 was the switch that made everything else turn on.

Ithink I will post my progress in another post to avoid a too long post. thanks all for reading down to this point. posting here, posting there, posting everywheres, posting up /down on a trotting horse, posting on the posting. la la la la tripping over my post. lol sorry just being silly tonight. need to go to bed. if you don’t want to be depressed do not read this.

today I am feeling a bit down, hormones? anyway my diet has deterioted a little bit,  nothing major, but I am feeling a little depressed today. I was thinking about my life and realized how I really don’t have alot of  close friends. I know many people are busy with their own lives and I am too, but it seems so hard for me to make good friends, not having alot of energy myself it is hard or impossible for me to do alot of reaching out, I try when I go to meetings or whatever to take the initiative (I have always been that way taking the initiative to be friends to others for many years now) but it seems not to many really find me interesting enough, I do have some friends that tolerate me, but not the kind of friends who you feel you can talk to about anything (except one or two). I know they are busy doing a good work helping others and I don’t want them to stop, when . once I was at a get together and it was hard to get anyone to hardly talk to me, sure they talked a little but mostly out of courtesy (except one or two who I have known many years) I even seen a friend of mine who I worry about sitting off to the side and hardly anyone went over to talk to her, so I did, I even went for a little hike with her, I never see her smile by the way, I think she suffers depression or something I kind of want call her on the phone, but maybe she doesn’t want to be bothered?

I am just thinking too how the pressures of satans world may have alot to do with this, unconsciously we may be getting dragged down  mentally and emotionally by it. no way do I want to ever be a burden to anyone, but it is so hard to make good friends and keep them.  I don’t think I have the energy to do that for to long, my hubby is my bestest earthling friend. Maybe my hormones has gotten my emotions all in a rag tag, so don’t pay me to much mind, anyway my diet deteroited a little bit, these last couple of days my appetite doens’t seem to want to shut down, I think the diet has benefitted me in that I am ovulating, you ever get that sharp pain near your ovaries? well I would get them and they lasted for days, now only a couple of hours and it doens’t hurt at much either. my last period was very light and normal for a change (after the last 15 years of not).

it is amazing how our hormones can affect our emotions so weirdly, I know my friends are busy with jobs and such and they know they can’t visit during the week as my hubby is a daysleeper and all and on the weekends they have their families to care for and spiritual activities to get involved in so I understand. I just wish this world did not place so many demands on us to perform (just so we can live a half way decent life) and would allow  more time and energy to socialize more. build up a loving association as it were.

I wish I could get off my own duff and take the initiative myself more, but now that it is winter I am more laid back lacking that drive, that energy I usually have in the summer to do something anything to brighten up my own mood, like go for a walk (to snowy, no sidewalks) or use the treadmill, (boring). sometimes with me it is just a matter of that first leap, usually. now I just want to bang my head against a wall and say come on bert, get up do something anything. lol.

so Ithink I will just bite the bullet and get on that treadmill. talk to you all later.

paleo vs primal vs vegetarian diets

watched this video today, this guy presented a very logical arguement against high meat low carb diets some call paleo or primal, he was concise, used examples we could see for ourselves, showed the evidence as he had access too, and the manner he did it was very respectful.

I am inclined to think he is right, I did the atkins diets, low fat diets low carb diets (this one I did the most often, I mean it made sense at the time caloire in caloire out myth). he was showing how vegetarians diets do not make you weak, sick or unatheltic.  he reminded us to look at the results, examples and not the theory.

let’s say for the sake of discussion that we evolved from apes or monkeys. I don’t know about you but I don’t remember seeing documentaries showing these animals were big meat eaters. Have you? in fact the chimps only ate meat occassionally, including the baboons too, and apes eat only vegetation. And when some of these animals do eat them I don’t remember them worrying about any ethical treatment of their prey, in fact I seen many videos of them actually eating their prey alive. The screams of pain were heart wrenching for me to watch.

Anyway I thought  I would just throw that out.  As for eating meat raw as some try to do, this is totally disgusting.  Even God’s chosen people ate their food cooked, especially over an open pit.  Even jacob was cooking the meat in an open pot that esau sold is birthright for. So man has always cooked his food. There must be a reason that tradition started, I guess raw meat was just too bloody and aweful tasting to eat. Though once I read that they were so famished from hunger they were eating the quail raw without bleeding it first (and this incurred God’s anger, eating the blood not eating the meat)so maybe some did so when desperate for food.

While I cant go totally animal product free I have been keeping it down to around 10 or so percent of my total caloires and concentrating on plant foods. so far so good.  just a side note, a friend of mine did the atkins several years ago and lost like 45 pounds, I would say a year or so later he did from sudden cardiac arrest. He just sat down after being with friends for the day on his vacation, and he just died right there, no mess, no fuss, just gone with the snap of your fingers. Did the diet have anything to do with it? don’t know. you tell me. I haven’t a clue.

my chocolate cake experiment

it didnt look all that great at first until I got it altogether. it taste way better than it looks. drooling yet?lol

low carb chocolate cake

1 cup black beans smashed up, 3/4 cup quinoa flour, 1/2 regular flour, 1/2 cup soften coconut oil,  1/2 cup of coconut crumbs unsweetened, 1/2 cup softened butter, vanilla extract, 4 eggs, I creamed the 1 cup (truvia)sugar and oil/butter first for a while, like 5 minuts, then I added the eggs one at a time, beat until blended, then I incorporated the 1 cup of milk and flour mixture (adding of course the cocoa powder, 1/4 cup) alternately until the batter was smooth, my cakes cooked at 350 for 20 minutes after preheat, my cakes also came out a little lopsided simply because my floor is not level under the stove..  but it tasted way better than it looked I hope my hubby loves it, he was craving chocolate cake.

caloires, each slice about 700 caloires and 80 caloires of that is from carbs. I did count the caloires of truvia because it has caloires despite the label on the front. most is from the fats of the oils, cream cheese icing, sour cream, in the icing, and some is protein with fats as well, the eggs, quinoa,black beans.

 

leptin and insulin

these substances have been the subject of much research and debate. personally I think they are just signaling molecules to give the central nervous system (brain) and idea of your nutrtional status. the brain decides what to do with the message it is given. depending on your genetics, enviroment, lifestyle the brain determins what to make of the signals given.

if your malnorished in some way that affects how the brain decides to respond to leptin and insulin. it may decide to slow your metabolism down, it may decide based on its programming, if I may use that term, to increase your fat mass and decrease muscle mass, it may decide to make you sluggish and lazy it may increase your appetite and desire for lots of simple easy to process calories like sugar and easy digestable carbs. it may manifest as obesity which in my mind is the last ditch effort of the body to deal with chronic nutrtional deficiencies. diabetes, heart disease, cancer, chronic infections are just the result of losing the battle due to these deficiencies.

while people demonize people who are obese as if they did it on purpose and are just lazy, dumb, or unmotivated, I cannot imagine that millions of people are actually moral deficient in this area, tho they might be in other areas,  because being obese is not fun at all. sure fornication is fun, or lying to get off work or stealing something you want and getting away with it is fun which is why people persist in it and do it on purpose, obesity is not fun and is not done on purpose.

I have to put part of the blame on the news media, the corporations that deal in diets, the medical experts, the social experts etc for this prejudice and hatred of fat people. the other part in on people (sure I have been guilty of this also) believing every thing they hear just because some “expert” says something is true.

leptin and insulin have interesting functions, they are still learning, but basically the most important function of insulin is as a break rather than a exitatory function, for example sugar will eventually get into your cells (if your cells are receptive or healthy) without insulin  but it is a bit slower, the high sugar is not caused by the sugar you ate but by the liver pumping out vast amounts, sure insulin speeds up uptake of sugar, but without insulin the liver  pumps out excessive amounts and cause a temporary high sugar, insulin is a break on gluconeogensis by the liver. a basal amounts of insulin says to the liver hold on there no need for sugar yet.

so if your insulin resistance it is as if your a diabetic type one as far as your liver is concerned. it stops responding and keeps pumping out sugar. so as a result the body pumps out more insulin to shut the mechnism down, which is where the hyperinsulinemia comes from, eventually the liver shuts off, (and thus your not full diabetic yet) but then the sugar levels fall rather rapidly (esp at night) and thus you get hypoglycemia symptoms even tho sugar levels are normal per lab results. but your brain detects the fall and interprets it as low blood sugar (consider higher sugar is required to overcome the cellular resistance to glucoe uptake as well)

leptin is also high if your insulin levels are high, insulin triggors the leptin release by fat cells as nutrients are taken up. fat cells re last to become resistant to glucose uptake and insulin. that is why fat cells pump out lots of fat while insulin and sugar are still somewhat high becaue the cells unable to use glucose very well are to dependant on fat to survive so fat cells keep pumping it despite the insulin presence in high amounts. fat cells are ignoring the insulins break on fat release.

thus it is the central nervous system that decides whether the body is going to respond normally to insulin and leptin not the substances themselves. hence correct the messages given to the brain (aka heal the breakdown in the cells membrans and internal structures that cause the glucose intolerance,) and the brain will also heal and change it’s commands to the body.
