this caladium among many, stayed in the ground all summer Ithought they had died or got eaten by all the chipmunks around here and I gave it up as lost theydecided to pop their little heads up when the weather turned cooler and the days grew shorter, whats up with that? now they are popping up everywhere I had planted them. weird.

autumnsignssept242013 054

figs on my hardy chicago fig tree, pretty cool, don’t plan on eating them just like how they look, do you suppose if I took the seeds I could grow another fig tree and would it produce to type? or would I get some different type of fig altogether.?

I always feel like somebody’s watching me, and I get no privacy, is it the mailman watching?, whos watching!,  wonder who is watching me now!, who! the irs? no the neighborhood vultures thats who, lol.

they sat there so quite and hardly moved I didn’t notice them right away, so here is some more

turkeyvulturesplantszoom 047

hey you down there do you have a license to take pictures?, hey vultures I am hungry wonder what vultures taste like, chicken?

turkeyvulturesplantszoom 056

the first four pictures I got with my macro 50 mm lens this close up I used my long lens 500 mm telephoto lens. in fact I was actually closer to them in this tree with teh 50mm but a bit farther away with the long lens. quite a difference, I didnt use my tripod which probably would of removed some of the blur, that lens is heavy!! so I orderd a pack shoulder strap for the camara ot get if off my neck.

here is another

turkeyvulturesplantszoom 095

took these with my long lens I was way on the otherside of the yard, not a bad lens once you figure out how to use it, here are some night shots I took last night

my pink crape got even prettier,

latesummerflowers 069

latesummerflowers 071

purple fountain grass not hardy for ohio, just an annual. thought it was pretty enough to buy.

Well that is all for now, have some wildflowers I planted that are about ready to bloom when they do I will post them, so enjoy these for now.

some changes in landscaping

moreyardplantsaug 005

changed my bed a bit, I seen that purple fountain grass and thought it was beautiful, (not perennial around here) and changed it a bit and moved my caladiums into the ground instead using them at each end to create some kind of balance,

moreyardplantsaug 032

my crape again, hope not boring you guys but it seems to be getting fuller and fuller and the colors more vivid,

moreyardplantsaug 059

my bed gets more and more full without being overfull, my golden gate rose in the middle behind the horse and shells has a bud on it so I will get to see if they sent me the right rose, the morning glory is about to bloom, yea!

the sun is finally shining, can anyone explain why when we want rain is ti like no way but when we want sunshine it is like no way, it seems like summer is slipping away and it seems we missed alot of it, due to rain and cooler than average temp, yuck! talk to y’all later.

for my brother

I will take more pictures of his fish downstairs at another time, here are some more of my crapes looking brighter since the sun is shining so brightly (after raining all night and the mosquitos getting really bad)

rose of sharon we got from tony’s mom, she wanted it removed as it was to close to her house we put it in the pasture, plenty of room there.

morecrepemyrtlesfloweretc 059

this is a smaller one, which was part of the shrub hubby dug up and we divided it up,

morecrepemyrtlesfloweretc 041

I am thinking since I like these so much next year I am going to plant them all along the edging there on the side of the house and plant flowrs at the base and maybe a a few  potted grass(like those purple ones I see with feathering that is purple) or some sort or palm maybe sitting on the mulch there? any other ideas? make it look tropical I know some people like caster bean plants personally I think they are beautiful but they are deadly so I wont’, unless htere is a similar plant that gets big and purplish that is safer.

well that is it for now, I was thinking next year I will rotor till the edges near the driveway edge it and mulch it (not sure with what) because I want to get a 3 foot iron works fencing where I can place potted plants like caladium, grasses potted or something similar not sure yet. possibly have a vine growing up and down the length (instead of climbing upward) that is perennial here, not sure yet.

thanks for stopping by.

thought I would throw a picture of the passion flower we have, humm, I was thinking they are native to ohio come to find out they are not, they always come back every year from the root and flower beautifully. we save the seeds too.

When my red crape flowers I will post some pictures, these are red red. does anyone know if you save the seeds of the crapes if they grow true to type?

thanks.
