low carb dieting

img_6030

How is everyone today? I want to discuss something, we as a society are obessed with diets. Why? could it be because we are having health issues we cant seem to get a handle on? could it be because we are tired of being sick and tired?

I have a history of diets that would fill a book. I did hte low caloire diets the most. low fat then low carb diets.  A friend of mine as we speak is doing semi starvation diet, and I know what the end result will be, and it wont be pretty. Anyway this is experience and research talking.

I decided I had to do something, I know forcing my body to go without macronutrients it cries for wouldnt work, as my body is determined to survive (a good thing by the way) just frustrating when your obese and tired. I thought about it for a while, mulled over what I knew, what I did not know, and decided. I am going low carb but with a twist.

I will make sure to eat some so called bad carbs ketogenic diets avoid like the plague. What carbs? well let me see, oat bran cereal? a tablespoon of raw honey? a big bowl of strawberries? (they want people to portion control even low carb fruits).  What else? I decided if my body wants it I will give it, like a raw potatoe with mineral salt when I am craving crunchy carb with salt.

I have been following this over a month and I am reporting some interesting observations. one is I listened to my body (as a example one day) and was really hungry for some rice, beans, meat and cheese and salad, so I ate a bowl of it, and drank some pop ( I had been following it for about 3 weeks and not having alot of cravings for carbs) and did you know I did not much of appetite the rest of the day? I was absolutly not hungry? many people who follow low carb find when they eat carbs they cant stop eating the rest of the day.

even I found myself needing to eat constantly when I eat alot of carbs in one setting. but no, not this time. anyway that was a few days ago and the past couple of days I have had little to no appetite for carbs. In fact I am not waking up hungry like a wolf. LOL. Anyway I feel more refreshed in the morning usually I am dragging. weird. I am also not hungry even as I type this and do not feel shaky, foggy or lightheaded or weak. Hum interesting.

But anyway I am finding that carbs are not bad, they are just no appropriate if you having some health issues with it. And I am wondering if low carb diets dont have to be a permanet diet to better your health and lose weight (not sure if I lost any but I sure do feel better) if all you have to do is go low carb to heal your body so it can handle glucose better from whole high quality carbs like fresh fruits, veggies, whole grains and beans.

For one thing if your insulin levels are always to high day or night, (higher than naturally they would be otherwise) because those cells are avoiding the sugar dont want it for whatever reason (but are still straving however because they  are empty and need energy hence the hypoglycemia symptoms we all seem to have?)Then it makes sense to get that insulin down, and not jsut to burn fat either, to get the leptin message through to the brain? once the brain realizes your very fat (otherwise it would of never made you eat the house down everyday) it can send the signal to eat less?

well I am seeing that happening gradually. I have not only lost cravings for alot of carbs, (still have a small amount and it takes only a small amount to quiet it) but finding I am going longer and longer between meal before I get hungry or and food desire.

Or the fat cells main job may have not been just storage of fat, its job could of been there to sweep up all the sugar that is floating around and not going anywhere and is damaging the body cells with all that glycation. And its job could of also been to recycle cholesterol that gets damaged via the same mechnisms and itself could be getting damaged and thus must increase in number (you get fatter) to handle the load, many cells make the load lighter and less damaging?

Just some ideas here, so if you cannot handle alot of sugar (carbs) then what is a body to do for energy? fat. not only is fat used for energy it is used for rebuilding the cells damaged parts. Interesting, the substance so maligned by the world is actually what is going ot heal us? fat takes longer to oxidize (as anyone who left a stick of real butter on the counter finds out) and doesn’t interfere with insulin leptin signaling.

do you suppose the medical establishment knows this or do you suppose they are like the average human not sure of anything?  I will report back more findings as I preceed. nothing like having a diet that actually decreases appetite. when I was low caloring dieting (weight watchers was once I did) I was constantly hungry over time that hungry grew, my running suffered. my energy levels suffered and after a about 3 months I could not stand the fake famine anymore and binged and ate the whole planet.

Never again, now when I hear health gurus tout anything requiring you to suffer, (pain is a signal tothe body something is a miss, a threat to survival) cant be right. so far so good with this diet, in fact I am  starting to get mildly hungry. But not sure what I am hungry for yet.

What do you all think? Here is a theory I have, if you eat low carb that gives the body a chance to heal from all the damage from a junky food diet, or weight loss dieting history, and a low quality diet longterm? so if that is hte case maybe quality carbs will eventually be okay once this healing is over. But how to tell if that is the case? when do I know when to eat them again? I figure my body my appetite and my cravings (as long as craving is for fruit veggies whole grains and beans) will tell me. YOu think?

Well just some musing and sharing today. thanks for reading.

added this today so you can see the color changes of this same rose. awesome rose. liking it more and more.

wanted you to see the yellowing. it is hard to see the true color from a picture.

this is called ghislaine de fergidone (not spelled right Iknow) this is its second year. it is a rambler, you can see I had trouble getting the colors to really show because the whiter flowers were glaring so much.the flowers actually start out apricot lighten to pinkish then to whitish when in full sun. the ones in full color opened up over night hence escaping the suns diluting affect. I just bought another since this rose surprised me. I only wrapped it in four or five layers of burlap for winter protection also tied it up in fencing to keep it from whipping around in the winds. did not have hardly any die back at all and for my area that is a surprise. itis very beautiful and hopfully will grow to cover the little fence I have it on, I want it to grow horizontaly along the fence to border the bed I have there. even my husband is impressed it was he who pushed me to buy another one. I give this rose a five star for hardiness, beauty, keeping clean leaves, number of buds and roses on it and over all vigor. in ne ohio where I live roses need to be tough. this one so far has proven to be tough and beautiful at the same time.

this tree is grafted on what appeard to be a viburnum, the leaves at the bottom were bigger, more rough and oblong/elliptical. the leaves at the top are about 2 inches wide slight wider and same length wise. the bark is smooth and greyish, and I have tried and tried looking in my books on the net, it almost made me think of red bud then I looked again and it reminded me of a vine leaf possibly gooseberry or something else, any ideas? thanks.

plants at peak aug 2014

gardenatpeakaug2014 001

crape myrtle starting to bloom, late this year usually blooms july. but everything got a late start.

gardenatpeakaug2014 010

scarlet bean runner with pods growing up the crape myrtle whose most of the tops died except the bottom where it is regrowing, yea it did not die, yippee.

gardenatpeakaug2014 014

red crape starting to bloom, grew a bit bigger finally, hum does it need to be shocked into growing more during summer by being hit with a severe cold winter? makes one wonder.

gardenatpeakaug2014 017

my giant caladium (elephant ears) started off small then got big, very nice.

gardenatpeakaug2014 027

sweet joe pye weed did not get big, the ones in the fields growing wild didn’t either. must of been the severe cold or something from last winter. pretty nonetheless

gardenatpeakaug2014 037

gardenatpeakaug2014 042

goldflame honeysuckle, I had to do some serious pruning for all the dead branches it had but it was a hidden blessing because now they are cleaned up of their cluttered branches look and are more uniform and their flowering has been enhanced quite a bit. very pretty.

gardenatpeakaug2014 038

early summer a chickadee mom and dad raised a brood out of here, I would watch them bring them food, but the little guys were to far down in to stick their heads out, then when they were done a house wren took it and raised babies too. see the nest inside?

gardenatpeakaug2014 046

a passion for flowers much? the passionflowers are starting to bloom, also late usually in july they bloom but we all know why don’t we.

gardenatpeakaug2014 058

painted mountain corn, very pretty had to fence it the ground hogs thought I grew this for them,

gardenatpeakaug2014 064

variegated climbing hydrangea, the canes are said to get fifty feet but it will be a couple of years before I see flowers but if I see some climbing the leaves will satisfy me enough until the flowers are ready.

gardenatpeakaug2014 073

touch me nots, never in my life have I seen them so tall, they are taller then me and so thick like this, wow, my whole fence on this side is like that and the plant bed near the dish is like this too, wow, must of been all that rain. (jewelweed)

gardenatpeakaug2014 086

black eyed susans seeds must of clustered at the bottom of my side yard because look what happened? they all clusted and bloom together, while the area around them has nothing, very pretty, did not have the heart to mow them.

gardenatpeakaug2014 110

rosa rugosa topaz jewel, is yellow but look what happens when you photograph it with the sun shining brightly at your back into the flower, like a beacon or something, (mirror rose)

gardenatpeakaug2014 084

and now the golden rods blooming, on the hill next to all my black eyes susans painted daisy? and other flowrs that finally spread, I guess mowing it during the summer was a bad idea so this year I did not mow it,

gardenatpeakaug2014 081

my side hills (dry conditions here) full of blk eyed, painted daisy? golden rods yarrow, ironweed,

so what do you think these are not all my plants but awwww the wonderful springs (usually wonderful) summers and wonderful fall time of year where you have plants galore sunshine warmth energy until winter spoils the party.

plants resurrected

topazjewelrose 001

topaz jewel and yellow rugosa hybrid, some of the tops actually survived this really bad winter we had, the flower is lovly. starts off dark yellow and lightens from the sun and heat, to a light yellow wonder if when it gets cooler if it will darken again like my new dawn does it get pinker when cooler and whiter when hotter.  now I know they sent me the right rose.

topazjewelrose 019

new dawn coming back from the thick stem, glad I did not cut it all the way to the ground, the leaves are so shiny, it doesn’t have buds on it I am hoping it will wait a few more weeks to get more canes I have a trellis I made ready for them, and to try to reduce black spot I put weed block around it to keep the hortatunia back so there would be better air circulation.

topazjewelrose 015

anyone know what this flower is? it grew back in my wildflower patch I grew wher I had a lot of cosmos, now I have different flowers coming up.

topazjewelrose 017

anyone know what this is?

my butterfly bushes all died, my one crape myrtle died too, but the one next to the garage is barly coming back from the bottom of the trunk. bummer the trunk has some pretty patterns on it, I am using it as a trellis for scarlet bean runner edible beans and is ornamental too, this is just some of my plants all which survived except the butterfly bushes and one new dawn which I just bought last year and that crape myrtle.

meet my new friend

ripplants 010

butterflies magnolia will this plant live through the winter? we shall see okay I am editing this, I think I jumped the gun here, I can just kick myself for not waiting one more week, my new dawn not only survived the tops are still alive and budding out like crazy, good think I did not cut it all the way down to the ground, so now not only do I still have my lovlie the new dawn I still have my crepe myrtles too, they are budding out on the old wood near the ground, yea, they survived, my wisteria is still alive and so is my red rose. I am just flabbergasted by how tough there were, I underestimated them, I really could kick myself for cutting my red one down to the ground, and I am glad I did not cut the tree near the garage yet down, nor the fig either. wow, gardening it is a joy, a pain and frustration when you make stupid mistakes like not waiting enough time. boy did I learn my lesson. not sure of the butterfly bushes they do not have any leafing out yet. my new dawn I cut down about half I still have some of the thick stem so hopfully it will still bloom beautifully.

prehistoric disasters documentary

I just finished watching this documentary on Netflix, I want to give a review, I give it a 3 stars, *** this is why.  the data they gave for their proof of what they think happened seemed sound enough, the charcoal layers in the earth that were found all over the earth indicating some kind of earth wide fire or burning of some kind of plants and animals,  the large crators found indicating very large meterorites or asteroids hitting some time in the past,  some feel it was a massive volcano eruption since they have found a large volcanic field the size of Alaska in Siberia, which if it occurred when life was existing, then it would block out the sun, cause massive die off of plants and then the animals, causing massive darkness for months, global cooling, stuff like that.

The believe based on the size of the crators, and the evidence of how far the debris field was that the massive asteroid that they think wiped out 95 percent of the crittors, was traveling about 45000 mile per hour, they indicated that where it hit could not have been the worst place to hit,  with all the chances of hitting somewhere else being high, why did it hit that spot in the yucatan where there is high sulfer deposits, causing massive spewing of sulfer dioxide and burning particles and co2 rise blocking out the sun, cooling the planet, etc you get the picture.

the first episode spoke about a collision of the earth and another body that became the moon, and the moon was much closer, causing massive tidal waves, the earth was moving faster too, causing severe weather, there was a 21 day cycle, some even think the earth had a 6 hour day, I wonder if we were alive then if we could feel the effects of an earth going that fast?  now these believed facts seem okay to me, after all the bible does not tell us how the planets were formed, how the earth was prepare for our future arrival nor how long a day is when dealing with millions of years,  he doesn’t tell us, being a forever living person he wasn’t in no hurry. time for him is meaningless unless he is dealing with his servants who are aware of time and base our lives on it. This includes the angels by the way.

the second episode I watched spoke about how meteorites carry water hitting the earth and making water accumulate on earth, I heard this idea before called the star water theory, anyway it spoke about how enough water accumulated allowing for the soup for the mixing of chemicals including amino acids,  creating life,  when they said this their logic and understanding of how life works fell flat?

when they start speaking about something that contradicts their own understanding of laws of physics, chemistry, life, then they enter the realm of self worship and blind faith. They are essentially trying to get around divine intervention and purpose. For some reason or another the belief in a divine being as creator and ruler over his own creation just bugs the heck out of them and they have to get rid of him at all costs. I don’t know why anyone  would want to remove a person who went through the massive trouble of billions of years to create the universe then the earth and then eventually life in the forms of simple things scientists call them, to the sea creatures to the dinosaurs and the time period required to prepare the earth for our arrival, who created us so beautifully, and this planet being so beautiful and so comfortable (except for winters but that is another story) who gave us color and beautiful creatures and a mind that can go beyond just existing and survival for a few years then dying off, ability to build on previous knowledge to ask questions, to appreciate things like a beautiful bird or rainbow, ot have friendships that are strong and enjoyable, I mean I want to know who this person is and why he did this and what his purpose for us is in the future? wouldn’t you ?

Since the bible does not tell us how long a day is we can only guess and scientists do have a lot of data indicating that the earth is billions of years old, I can accept that, that life on it has been here for millions or even a billion years starting with sea life (which the bible indicates he created life in the seas first and the flying creatures (the Hebrew word used means winged creatures),  then the larger animals came on the scene gradually,  the atmosphere  gradual clearing before creating the sea creatures, allowing for water plants to create oxygen, for the sun to shine through, the clearing of the gases such as co2 falling due to the plants (before he created the land animals by the way) the dry land gets plants and as these develop over time the animals being created to eat those plants down to prepare the earth soil with organic material (the dinosaurs were perfect for the job being such large plant eaters) I can imagine if no animals ate the plants down for thousands of years then they would be overgrown and large, so the earth was gradually being prepared for us, by the way I am wondering, if the asteroid was so large fast and managed to get through the atmosphere and was devastating enough to destroy all the plants and animals causing global cooling for so long, I am wondering if possible Jehovah removed the animals first, (or the volcano idea) since their purpose was no longer needed, or maybe the volcano or asteroid hit before  the animals on land were created? maybe to burn down the vegetation to add nutrients to the soil? I cannot imagine him using cruel methods to destroy animals,

I mean in the garden of eden animals were at peace with each other, (they would still die of old age) and the predators job was to eat them after they died naturally. animals did not start killing each other until after adam and eve sinned and satan rulership began. they did not become a danger till then too, and man a danger to them, till after the sinning occurred. Also man did not become a danger to their fellow man either till after the couple sinned. So Jehovah is a God of peace and kindness and love and justice, so naturally he would not be cruel to man or animals. including prehistoric earth animals.

So my guess is either the animals were not there during those catastrophes or they occurred before life began at all and man has misread the timetable of the earth. It is possible only plants burned and sea creatures were the only ones around yet, don’t know, even with all the data they have when something occurred and how its effected life on it is still subject to wide speculation. They do not know the effects after all there are multiple factors involved for example while methane is a greenhouse gas, co2 is too, co2 also acts like a coolant under certain circumstance,  the suns changes affect the climate too, while the sun was temporarily blocked out, and the plants died, this released a lot of co2 which would warm things up or cool things down more, no one knows for sure. the blocking of the sun by volcano ash or asteroid hit may have lasted only a short time, while the sparks from the asteroid may have caused massive fires to break out over the world the massive heat would of caused rain to fall in the clouds that evaporation and spewing of all that water into the air would of caused, right? does this make logical sense?

there are just to many factors that they missed or are ignoring to know for sure what happened, I think the humble and modest thing to do is just to say we don’t know for sure. we must always remember human wisdom is very limited our ability to read the earth and it’s signs is in it’s infancy,  trying to read the earth and predict what the future may hold (some volcano in the middle of the usa  may erupt causing devastation all over the northern hemisphere which due ot happen due to it heating up, or we are due for another asteroid hit or global warming is going to kill us all or predicting what the future will hold with regard to how hot the planet will get etc) all these things reminds me of people who used to look to the sun, stars and looked into the liver of animals or for other signs of predicting the future, (astrology, numerology, palm reading, taro cards, etc)

we have to be careful to separate the data found in the earth from the superstitious idea of predicting the future long in advance based on those findings. and we have to be careful to separate these facts from treating speculation as fact too. Basically what I am saying is we need to be totally honest when evaluating data and studies of the earth and life on it now and in the past.

Good day fellow people, hope you enjoyed this, I am still working on my dinos for part two, I want to do a good job, something pleasant look at.EPSON MFP image
